USE THE SORT FEATURE!
You can CLICK ON the Column Headings to Sort.
You can also sort by the Name,Ratings, Watersheds, Time or the Levels.
Some of the creeks listed here have multiple gages, to help predict if they are running by using more than one gage.If two gages go "Green"that's good,if three go "Green" that's better etc. You will have to do the math and see where the rain fell. Also check the rainfall amounts listed in our "Precipitation and Forecast" Section listed above before heading out to go paddle.
Your best bet is to visit this page frequently to learn "the feel" of the flowpage during rain events to help make your "own" predictions.
We want to add more gages here so please feel free to suggest a gage to us
PLEASE READ THE NOTES! : That pertains to EACH stream reflected in it's own note section. This is espically true for the Richland watershed creeks.
Watertable gages:
Are expermential but are a good indicator if your favorite creek needs a 1/2" or an 1" of rain. It's another screwdriver in the toolbox to help you decide where to go paddle.
Rain gages:
We have added rain gages for the major Walden's Ridge streams N. Chick, Richland, Piney, and White's Creek. We also have generic/general rain gages listed throughout our flowpage.
The Rain gages are tied in to show early stream flow prediction and are a early indicator only. Also we have rain gages that are just for general areas to help show where the rain fell. YOU CAN ALWAYS just look at our rain gages , they don't have to "light up" to show the amount of rainfall they receivedReminder: We need those visuals to help make this page better. Remember to sign up for our gage reading contest. You might just win! To enter the contest join our Forums and Gage Readings forum listed above on the header above. If you post you are automatically entered in the contest. You can post your visual on any creek listed on this flowpage.
Please scroll down and note the other qualfications listed on the bottom of this page.
***You can CLICK ON the Column Headings to Sort (It helps you find out what's running instead of looking at the whole page.)***
You can move your mouse around and see all the hyperlinks appear too : )

N/A | SPECULATIVE: : This gage was added to help show the condition of the water table. If the water table is full, it takes less rain. Most runs need .50-.75 inches of weekly rain during a full water table event. During a dry water table event most runs need 1.3- 1.75 inches of rain. This gage is not here to predict stream flow. It is here to help you make a conscience decision if a creek got enough rain. The flowpage can show you if it is rising or falling at a glance.. Flow Color Coding Key
| Color | Interpretation | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
Note: assigning flow codes is highly subjective -- one person's "way too high" is another's "yahoo!" I have attempted to assign the codes relative to the typical person likely to boat the run at normal levels. "Too high" in this context means "the typical person found on this run at the levels it is most often paddled would find this run at this level very challenging." In general, runs are harder at higher levels. Use your discretion regarding the suitability of the run to your skill level and experience after seeing the level in person. |
||
| Too High | Beyond the envelope for the typical person likely to boat this run. | |
| High | Frequently run this high, but a stretch for the typical person likely to boat this run. | |
| Medium | Very enjoyable for the typical person likely to boat this run. | |
| Low | Frequently run this low. Worth a look but probably not a long drive. | |
| Too Low | Seldom run lower by anyone who isn't desperate and/or lives by the put-in. | |
| Don't Know | What's your opinion of this level? Email The River Gages Project. | |
Gage Quality Key
| Rating | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Excellent | Gage located on the reach near the run. Significant number of observations. |
| Very good | Gage located on the reach but a significant number of tributaries upstream or downsteam from the run, or gage based on rainfall or located on a proxy reach. Significant number of observations and strong correlation. |
| Fair | Gage located on the reach near the run but very limited number of observations; gage located on the reach but a significant number of tributaries upstream or downsteam from the run, or gage based on rainfall or located on a proxy reach. Limited number of observations and/or modest correlation. |
| Poor | Gage is based on rainfall or located on a proxy reach. Significant number of observations but weak correlation. |
| Speculative | Gage is based on rainfall or located on a proxy reach. Very limited number of observations or very weak correlation. |
